Older than I thought

Wow, what a day.. Spent the morning, early morning at that, standing in line at the county clerks office behind some newlywed cutesy couple who wouldn’t stop hanging on each other, only to reaffirm the fact that I am getting older and singler. Whatever.. After I get in, drop off my pre-filled request form, and sit for a mere (agasp) 15 incredible minutes.. I am called to meet a woman who apparently went to high school with my father, and was quite excited at the fact that I had sprung from his loins.. I thing perhaps she had a “thing” for him, because honestly, she carried on about how she lived mere blocks away and well.. I tuned out after that. Anyways, $17 later she awarded me a certified copy of my legal birth certificate, only to find that I am a month older. It seems the degenerate who filed the document with the county had switched to Sanka that day and forgot that the month had changed from February to March. After pointing out the discrepancies between my hospital document and the county file to my fathers fan, I was giving the response, “That is Tri City for you.” Does that mean this thing happens often?
Apparently though their office is unable to fix it, and after a couple unsuccessful calls to the board of health to file a discrepancy, I decided that my passport will just say I was born in February.

I then went to empty my storage, fairly easy task, only about a truckload… the problem was having to pull all the food items that the girl I had been dating took the task of packing for me (I was out of state working on editing a film and needed help). Never before has anyone that I have ever known packed expired food with coffee mugs, or a bag of light bulbs with coffee cups. Now I am extremely anal about packing, and I do appreciate her help, for without her I would have been screwed.. However, food items belong on their own.

That was pretty much my afternoon.. I could ramble on about bad drivers, but I think I will reserve that, plus I am ridiculously tired, and a tad taken by the wine.

A little kindness goes a long way.

By George, the sun is breaking through the layer of haze… May haze, June gloom.. The joys of living on the southern California coastline.

So I am back in my “So Cal” abode, after a six week stint visiting in the NW followed by a week working in Huntington Beach for Vans. I realize exactly why I love the Northwest, trees and people. I find it straining on the eyes the miles of endless development we have here. Imagining this area overgrown with native sagebrush and well I don’t know what else seeing as so many flora and fauna have been introduced it is impossible to know what was here two hundred years ago. Oh, but we have history books that can tell us about it. So I am a little negative this morning. Some people just make my head spin is all. It seems that a fair amount of people here are so self absorbed and focused on their next task at hand that they lose their courtesy, failing to let you in on the freeway, or cutting you off, or not smiling instead flashing a scowl and distrusting look. I guess I get spoiled on my trips north, waking up to a view of the mountains, having people say hello to me regularly on the street, and no fingers on the road, well rarely. It makes me ask the question, “what happened here?”

Aside from that, I was cast in a show that I did 12 years ago.. Very funny. Have a short film I am working on next month followed by another in July, and hopefully another in August.. Say hello to someone on the street today would you.
