Stepping further into the millennium

So I am sitting, on Valentines as the third wheel at the grace of my friends.. There lies ahead of us a plethora of deliciousness to dance about our tonsils. An array of Belgium to local brews, all in the name of love.... Love of beer that is. Lately I have become more inclined to expand my taste buds from the usual... between sours and dubbels, I find the world of fine brewhaha more and more worth the 10, 15 and 20 bucks a bottle. I scoff at those of my friends who fail to leave the familiarity of Budweiser.. I have grown far from the days of Schlitz and Magnum 40's.. Yet, I admit that a can of pbr can hit the spot on a hot day out camping with the menfolk.. But as I near another year into my early thirties (that early word is crucial), I realize that I am becoming more cultured. Some of you may think beer is low brow.. However, I have to say, spending as much on a bottle of "good" beer as a bottle of mediocre wine makes more sense.. Wine is made with grapes, and maybe some fruit. Beer, on the other hand has an array of ingredients that make it more versatile and worth while in the long run.. So, thank you wheat, thank you barley, thank you hops, and malt.. thank you yeast.. you make my singleness not so sniffle filled on this holiday that keeps sees and ftd thriving..

PS hallmark can go bankrupt..

Long live Petrus

Rest easy Uncle Chris.

Yesterday, my uncle Chris succumbed to Cancer. My mother didn’t want to tell me last night for fear of spoiling my evening as it was New Years Eve. I do not know why I am writing this.. I think perhaps to give some ease to myself although I am not deeply effected.. It had been years since I had seen him. Perhaps that my mother is so upset, and throughout the years our similarities had been pointed out by her. Last night I had a long discussion with a friend about going out to visit him and making a documentary about his ever losing battle that begun at age 28 when he turned to a reliance on drugs and alcohol as a staple of daily living. I wanted to hear about his life, from his mouth. The good the bad, the history of him through his eyes. I wanted to show that there was more to this man than one beating by addiction. I wanted to capture his memories to leave positive memories for others to experience. I was so adamant last night about doing this, about contacting investors today, about going out there this weekend and filming… but the moment had passed.. my uncle had passed. My opportunity to really get to know him had passed.

But I can still learn from others.. These are some things I learned about him today from my uncle Mike that I never knew about Chris:

• He raced and continually won motor cycle championships.
• He managed all the restaurants and bars at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at the age of 21.
• He snow and water skied like an Olympian contender.
• He was a veritable Craftsmen God as a carpenter and even rivaled Thor with his prowess of the hammer.
• In grammar school as a "problem child". The district psychologist gave up on him because he "was a genius and the darn kid would be asking him the questions before the session would end"
• In the summers during junior high, he took the train with his friend to visit family to Guadalajara Mexico and spent months living as a local, playing football (soccer) and speaking Spanish.
• He would captivate a crowd with jokes and stories. So much so a pub would become silent to listen and roar with laughter and joy as he entertained."

Rest now, it had been a long hard road for you, this is something I have always known.. Bless you.

Tears from heaven mean no fun in the sun.

Welp… It seems no matter how much I plan updating you with the lastest and greatest in my worldly experiences (comprised of the western United States that is) as a constant routine, I simply get caught up in living.. Sorry..

So with out further ado (trumpets blare), Mr. T coffee in hand of course, Life Update.

I am back in Southern California, and finally plugged back into the interweb on a daily basis. The weather is just as pleasant as I remember, well except for today, as Jesus tears patter away at my window, must be his birthday approaching.. being 2008 years old would make me dump tears from heaven too.. But the rain is much needed here in So Cal. Man I sure do miss the green surroundings of Oregon. Although I heard Bend received six inches of snow.. so in that respect (raising java) welcome home me.

I am still waiting for my Senior Production Manager position to start with the channel our company is launching. After months of waiting and a 1000 miles back to my birthplace, I am ready for the ball to roll.. It has inflated to astronomical proportions by this point.. This week should be the determining factor, yet I have heard this tale before and probably can expect waiting til next year for it to kick off. We did hold our first venue this past Saturday, and as a co-promoter and working like a madman to get the technical side up, I have to say it went pretty well. We sold a lot of tickets, so Santa came early for me allowing me to splurge a bit and get my nieces and nephews trinkets for Christmas.. Little devils got lucky, I was going to give them rocks with sharpied faces.

So with that said, and plenty of holes for those of you who don’t know me.. Happy holidays..

Stop crying up there though buddy, people still pay ridiculous prices to live here for the sun despite the economy.

Rain in Seattle, never.

Greetings minions from Seattle, the city of damp... It is insanely green and gorgeous, but wet, oh so very wet. As if this is the urinal of heaven.. The trough kind you find in Tijuana and old ball parks.. But I say it does not possess the retched stench, so angel pee must be equivalent to aquafina.

I opted to not go on a man trip filled with fishing and hunting in a remote cabin, to come and visit my goddaughter and best friend. Plus, in all honesty I am not one for hunting deer, never have, probably never will. Not that they aren't tasty buggers, but the whole process of gutting and removing the bowels.. I think I just threw up in my mouth a tad.. (lip smacking) taste like mocha and coffee cake.. I have evolved from Mr. T coffee, to fufu, but only while on my mini vacation!

So my goddaughter and I had a afternoon together... First Ben and Jerry's, followed by the blockbuster thriller "High School Musical 3" (two hours of crap, in which either I was noddin off or tryin to see if during all that dancing I could catch a crotch shot.. hey, they are all over 18 who you kiddin) after the movie and some overly drenched with artificial butter popcorn, the kid wanted pizza... You have no idea the persuasive power of my goddaughter, so she got her way, and picked out the all meat "John Candy," pie... dear lord.. ice cream, greasy popcorn, and meat pizza.. my gut felt as if was met head on by a Ram... I will refrain from desrcibing my experience later in the evening...

Oh look, it is raining again... I am glad that it is wet constantly, it makes it easier for me to migrate south this winter... Although I am still not 100 percent definite about my new position, I am 90 and that is good odds.. Besides, towing a trailer in the snow does not appeal to me at all. Although so cal is not my favorite place.. Great friends, family, and sunshine.. but so many people.. Oh well, we suffer for our craft right..

Catch you in the sun..

A long breath

Holy crap, has this much time really passed since I posted last? Not that I have a HUGE cult following hanging on my words, pleading desperately for me to write more.. If that was the case I would have not let time pass and would most likely have a book deal, in which case the time thing wouldn't matter because I would be living in Malibu, having relations with multiple blondes at once, including my maid, who is bleached.... everywhere........ sorry lost in thought..

So, hurry up people and read my stuff religiously so I can move. I kid, I kid, blondes really are not my thing, now brunettes, a whole crew in maid outfits... geez... (smack of the wrist)

On the new.. Just made a movie.. well was hired as AD, had to fire the supporting lead, and due to my dynamic acting ability filling in for bit parts during the readthrough, I took over.. then I had to become the second unit director, and now I am in post as the assistant editor, ultimatly I am some sort of a producer... geez, can I just take over..

So I am in souther California, and boy.. it feels bad, but at the same time good. I know that no matter how much I love the Pac No West, to do what I really want to do I have to be in the armpit of America.. that is right folks, LA... beat me, please someone for saying this.. I am not completely sold on moving, well not until I find out for sure about a huge job offer I got in the area... so what makes us move? Money, power, the desire to get into a certain feild.. geez what about all three..

Cross your fingers.. don't worry though, the PacNoWest will be my restin place..

An Opus Dei "bad priest" whippin

It seems like I have allowed work to conquer any creative thought process that still exists in my brain, of which its hard exterior shell I have used to tack my degree on the wall for me to glare at as some relic discovered on an archaeological dig, displayed in a museum, never to be touched or used, simply admired... Central Oregon seems to lack any sort of position for me to shine with my talents.. or if by some chance a position arises which comes close, they trade my skills for tidbits of sausage, a wrinkled carrot, and a couple pinto beens.. I literally laughed out loud at an offer after an interview... "really? that won't even pay my rent"... so maybe my sites are set too high, as some have said.. well they didn't bust their asses to go through school... which took me a whopping ten years to accomplish because I was always working.. nayyy, the bar is set and will not be lowered.. not that I mind what I am doing right now, I mean it pays a whole lot.. but my creative mind seems to suffer.. thank f*^*n god for a long weekend for me to do something artistic.. and look, I am even back to writing..

Enough on that.. Lets talk about wit.. I was actually inspired to post this blog because someone wrote something so incredibly witty I damn near fouled myself.. a thought occurred, "wow, there are people out there who appreciate as much as I do commentating on the absurdity of certain aspects of life..." and doing so with a tad of humor attached... this is not exactly my thoughts, but close enough.. summarized.. with a little more put into it... you get the jest..
None the less, this made me realize that I need to force myself, buckle down, focus, I mean get a little leather sex whip and beat my bare back like an Opus Dei monk (although they would probably not have a sex whip... so a "bad priest" whip) and write.. write.. and write some more.. and after I have done that, and after I have gone back over it.. and hopefully chuckled at myself..because I can be funny, but only sometimes... then I will write some more..

Next:

Well I just moved... into the nicest house I have ever lived in.. I mean it is truly a kick ass house.. two bedrooms, on bath, all hardwood flooring, a basement, gravel three parking spot on side, two car garage, a friggan workshop, and on the west side of town... I am excited to start creating art, and enjoying being walking distance from everything good.. (it would be nice if there was an Asian message parlor around the corner.. happy endings optional). I have so many ideas for things I want to create, art works, furniture, nuclear reactors, and laser beams.. I want to get ack to where my mind was at constant work of formulating creative things.. man,I am excited for someone to come and visit.. and to take them to my fictional massage parlor... (happy endings optional)

I just brewed up a cup o Mr. T coffee... I had tea earlier... I am swinging both ways in the same day now, thank god my family is accepting (referring to coffee and tea, so get your mind outta the gutter, geez, I like girls only... you perv).. variance just seems better nowadays, maybe I will just combine the two, call it coffte` or maybe teafee, something exotic sounding.. anywho, my last day of a long weekend and I better get out and enjoy the sunshine.. oh wait, it has been raining all weekend.. perhaps someone forgot to tell the controller of weather that we live in a desert.. well thanks Mr. C.O.W... thanks alot for ruining my life... well at least for the past four days. I think I see a glimpse of the sun....

nope, my mistake

Happy memorial day to you all, lets honor those who have fallen, and morn those who will..

The change to Tea, and Morons

Welp, I have returned from the valley of the wittyless.. Actually I have just been overly consumed by work for the past month or so. Nothing like rising at 5 am and not getting home until after 6 pm, just a little draining. The perk to the recent overworked madness, is that soon I will have some kick asss video equip, then the world will bow to my creative genius! I have gone to spending half my mornings with Mr. T coffee.. I am hooked on tea now which makes me feel very British.. rising at the crack of dawn to put on the kettle for a spot of tea… I feel like perhaps I should dawn a beefeaters hat and have some crumpets.. nawwww, there is just more variety, and I enjoy my black sludge here and there…

So what is the deal with the Olympic torch? Yeah I agree that Tibet should be free, but stopping the torch? Idiotic.. Um the Games in ancient Greece were a symbol of time of peace, way to go radical protest morons… ruin it for everyone else.. peaceful, non violent way means sit on the side of the f’n road and cheer for the torch. I wish I was in SF yesterday to punch as many of them in the mouth as possible.. We get one west coast city and these idiots have to ruin it! Go American uber liberals! You wanna free Tibet? GO THERE! Send money to help! Do something that will actually help! Not spoil a tradition that joins the world in the spirit of the game… MORONS
