Time machine of doom

Yes, yes, yes... I know adoring fans I have been missed. The truth is I was encapsulated in a time machine and am now just emerging from a long journey through the space time continuum.

Okay, I am a liar.. I have been a lazy uninspired individual. In the time I returned from Europe I found myself moving twice, back to Bend, then down to LA. I have settled into a new career, and the chaos of this city consumed me wholly. Tonight however I find asylum in music and the written word.

I gave up coffee.. yes incredible I know. How the liquid black gold will never pass these lips again makes me cringe, but for my health I have switched to Mate' and it seems to do the same trick, if only it tasted as phenomenally delicious. What the hell am I going to do when I visit Seattle??? That's it.. I will just have to suffer and embrace Stumptown.

My fingers are like rusty joints attempting to crank out the written word... this is not like riding a bike, I have to be witty and come up with interesting things to discuss.. not that I ever did, but who cares it was good for me.

This new place, this dark cit, clouded by individuals with blinders, focused on a four inch frame of few that only incorporates their lives problems and avoids human interaction that doesn't include obscene words or gestures. This city, is not like I am used to, and it consumes you, your spirit and being. But at least my apartment is kick ass... Though I could go without the whole drunkards leaving the local bar and depositing vomit and urine outside my window each Friday and Saturday evening... oh and what a joy, I caught a homeless man dropping a deuce right across from my back gate, and I am talking straight shot of everything... I managed to scare him off and even threatened to the point that he picked up his prize and took it with him.. yeah, point for Mr. A...

The garage roof leaked when we moved in, and they were supposed to fix it... oh wait that was seven months ago... Today they finally managed to rip off the roof (only after my roomie and I woke up at 6am to empty its entire contents). Is it a win? Well, if I don't have to step out on my patio each morning to be greeted by a giant blue tarp, then I would say yes..

And I am spent.

Tanks, booms and vampires.

All the hotel room has to offer in the ways of black liquid gold is Nescafe.. Instant coffee has a taste comparable to liquid shoe polish, but after a long night and a rising at 2pm, shoe polish is a welcome commodity. It ain’t no Mr. T coffee though.

We have gone from shooting days to shooting nights here in Romania. I tell you, there is a sense of eeriness filming in the woods at night around the resting place of Vlad.. If any sort of thing such as werewolves or vampires were to exist, it would be in this country. Walking from the set to the studio along a dark section of road gave a little pitter to the heart, but then again I am a neurotic actor. If I come home and sleep all day and avoid mirrors and anything with garlic, please bring it to my attention. Check my teeth before you drive the stake though, oh wait I already have a few pointed ones oddly enough. All I need is blood lust and I am all set. It is cloudy, as I look out my window upon Bucharest bustling below. Even for a Sunday the main artery running below my hotel room fills this man made gorge of shops and apartments with a steady flow of cars.
Last night was a battle scene on the streets of Castel Studios. We had zee Russians vs. zee Nazis.. Russians having a tank.. Well you can figure who became the victor of the conflict. It was an awesome experience to see a tank shoot and explode a pile of rubble down the war torn street.. Stuntmen flying through the air as an effect of a ball of flames. Simply amazing.

I haven’t got the official word, but it looks as if I will be here another week. I have been keeping in touch with my cohorts via this interweb in regards to the next project that my attention will switch to when this comes to an end. I am however taking at least a week to play before jumping back into film work. I plan to finish the year out with an aggressive attitude towards film making, both in acting and in production. Go art!

The heat forces me to run the AC all night, which in turn makes for a lovely drip in the back of my throat in the morning. With a constant sniffle, occasional snort, and rare clearing of the throat, it is such a glorious experience. The taste of Nescafe doesn’t help either, Salty, slimy shoe polish.. what a wonderful thought, sorry.

I have until a quarter til eight tonight to putz around. I think I may go down to old Bucharest, but everyone I call in the hotel seems to be lying in bed still, preparing for another night in the war torn streets. Perhaps it is the dry sandwiches at three am, or the coffee that has been sitting for hours on end, or the sitting and waiting and waiting. Whatever it is that makes them rumble and groan before hand it seems to be washed away by the camaraderie and sense of wow at how glorious of a job the art department and effects have done. Nothing brings out the boy in you better than a big explosion and ball of fire, or ratt-a-tat of a machine gun. None the less, soon enough we will all part and I will head back across the pond, and they will head back to their island edging the Atlantic that separates us. Our weeks of experiences though will be captured in an hour and a half story that we were merely players in.

Adventure Bucharest

Greetings from across the pond. I am sitting in my hotel room in Eastern Europe, a day off from shooting and stuck inside, waiting for the hotel maintenance to come and fix the leak in my closet from the air conditioner, which kept me awake hours on end with it’s constant pattering. You would figure that a new, five star hotel would not pose such problems, but alas…

My time here has consisted primarily of waking early, hurrying for the buffet breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, shoveling in either an omelet or quiche, a big bowl of fruit, a yogurt drink thingy, and a latte (on a good day two). Then riding an hour to the studio, to sit in a trailer and await my use on set. Lunch on set has been great, I have come to look foreword to the new regional dishes served from the catering staff. The best of yet was roasted rabbit, but the beef in tomato sauce over polenta is a close second. The day usually ends at 9pm, on a good day I will get out early 6 or 7.. An hour ride back to the hotel to clean up, then a group of actors usually congregates in the hotel bar to head to dinner.. Did I mention that food and drink here are incredibly cheap? Seriously, a beautiful steak dinner and beer for about $17 bucks.. The dollar is still strong in some places, just not so much at home..

Dink, dink, dink.. (water trickles in my closet in the background)

I am happy that I actually have some time to sit today, looking out on the city of Bucharest and write. It seems as of late that my time laying down my thoughts is less and less. No matter how much I promise myself to take time out and communicate with the world, it gets pushed aside for some pressing matter such as what creative project will I focus my attentions next, or money… when you have a lot of it I am sure it is not an issue, but for struggling actors and artists it comes and goes, and most the time it goes.

Out the window I see the Bucharest Opera House, with its domed roof coming to a point aimed to the heavens, an old church, it's cross reaching similarly above. Between them apartment complexes with shops below, and pigeons, lots of pigeons, circling and landing, circling and landing, in search of crumbs or people to poop on… ah to see the world from above as they do..

Much of the city is in disarray, a byproduct of the communist era here. My guide book says that many historical buildings were torn down to make room for concrete housing projects… When we shot in Old Bucharest, it was like stepping back in time.. The streets had been blocked off and dressed with historical vehicles, it was pretty sweet. I went back the other day to see the street lined with modern cars, it didn’t quite offer the same charm. Still though, it is something I will never see back home.

Where the hell is the maintenance man? I want to shower and leave… Sigh..

Absinthe is the devil I have discovered. The charm that Hemingway related in his tales of Europe and his dabbles with the green fairies paint a picture of something romantic.. He failed to mention the horrendous headache that follows the morning after, yesterday was a wash for me. I do admit that watching the blue flames dance seductively as the drink is prepared is amorous enough, yet I think it is an experience I will limit in my future.

There are a ridiculous amount of stray dogs on the streets here. I am not kidding, a ridiculous amount! Even at the studio, dogs run rampant throughout the forest. They are friendly enough, I suppose that they are given scraps from people and perhaps run off by others enough to know to keep their distance until food is offered. I would hate to be in a dark alley at night with a pack of them though. The same goes for gypsies. Yes, gypsies. When the term was first thrown out by my driver from the airport I laughed thinking of Borat… But I have been warned about pick pocketing children. The city overall is safe, but there are a few neighborhoods that are ill advised to venture into.

Thank god… my leak is being addressed!

I do get rather bored on days off. Not knowing the city nor the language poses a problem as to where to go and what to see. I am adventuresome enough to just walk, and willing to cab it, but some of the cabbies are a little on the shady side and either overcharge or drive you to strip clubs offering extra services… That is nice of them to offer up ladies to me but I would rather not partake in those services.. Maybe when I am older and unattractive.. lol. It would be great to meet someone local to show me around, especially someone with a car. I thought about a rental, but they drive crazy here, so much worse than LA… I am sure I would either get pissed off or piss someone else off, or get in an accident.. I think it is better I hoof it around town to avoid hookers and fender benders.

The maintenance man has a belt buckle the size of a dinner plate… well maybe not that big, but at least a saucer. And I thought things were bigger in Texas.

So I am due back in the states the day before the celebration of our independence. I have been watching John Adams on the laptop. It is a great series. It makes me feel quite patriotic. Though I don’t think the British cast would fancy it. I have a feeling I will be here a little loner than expected though and may miss out on parades and fireworks, and the looks of wonderment on kids faces, ok mine actually when I break into my box of showering goodies.. sigh.. I am excited for the finally though, supposed to be tanks and god knows what else.. I am debating on stopping through London on my way home.. It all depends on time and money and what the production company is willing to do. I may just head to Seattle to see friends and my wonderful goddaughter. I have to be in San Diego again though by the end of next month to start filming the next project I am in. A short film that I am positive will due well in festival.

Well, the leaking I am told has been fixed, I can now lap in the luxury of cool air without having to pull my clothing from the closet or losing sleep.. and with that, I am going to shower and hoof it to a museum. Go art!

Older than I thought

Wow, what a day.. Spent the morning, early morning at that, standing in line at the county clerks office behind some newlywed cutesy couple who wouldn’t stop hanging on each other, only to reaffirm the fact that I am getting older and singler. Whatever.. After I get in, drop off my pre-filled request form, and sit for a mere (agasp) 15 incredible minutes.. I am called to meet a woman who apparently went to high school with my father, and was quite excited at the fact that I had sprung from his loins.. I thing perhaps she had a “thing” for him, because honestly, she carried on about how she lived mere blocks away and well.. I tuned out after that. Anyways, $17 later she awarded me a certified copy of my legal birth certificate, only to find that I am a month older. It seems the degenerate who filed the document with the county had switched to Sanka that day and forgot that the month had changed from February to March. After pointing out the discrepancies between my hospital document and the county file to my fathers fan, I was giving the response, “That is Tri City for you.” Does that mean this thing happens often?
Apparently though their office is unable to fix it, and after a couple unsuccessful calls to the board of health to file a discrepancy, I decided that my passport will just say I was born in February.

I then went to empty my storage, fairly easy task, only about a truckload… the problem was having to pull all the food items that the girl I had been dating took the task of packing for me (I was out of state working on editing a film and needed help). Never before has anyone that I have ever known packed expired food with coffee mugs, or a bag of light bulbs with coffee cups. Now I am extremely anal about packing, and I do appreciate her help, for without her I would have been screwed.. However, food items belong on their own.

That was pretty much my afternoon.. I could ramble on about bad drivers, but I think I will reserve that, plus I am ridiculously tired, and a tad taken by the wine.

A little kindness goes a long way.

By George, the sun is breaking through the layer of haze… May haze, June gloom.. The joys of living on the southern California coastline.

So I am back in my “So Cal” abode, after a six week stint visiting in the NW followed by a week working in Huntington Beach for Vans. I realize exactly why I love the Northwest, trees and people. I find it straining on the eyes the miles of endless development we have here. Imagining this area overgrown with native sagebrush and well I don’t know what else seeing as so many flora and fauna have been introduced it is impossible to know what was here two hundred years ago. Oh, but we have history books that can tell us about it. So I am a little negative this morning. Some people just make my head spin is all. It seems that a fair amount of people here are so self absorbed and focused on their next task at hand that they lose their courtesy, failing to let you in on the freeway, or cutting you off, or not smiling instead flashing a scowl and distrusting look. I guess I get spoiled on my trips north, waking up to a view of the mountains, having people say hello to me regularly on the street, and no fingers on the road, well rarely. It makes me ask the question, “what happened here?”

Aside from that, I was cast in a show that I did 12 years ago.. Very funny. Have a short film I am working on next month followed by another in July, and hopefully another in August.. Say hello to someone on the street today would you.

Nunchucks and Knomes

Was awoken this morning at 5 am by the neighbor loading his trailer for the day with yard equipment.. And I mean a ridiculous amount of equipment. As if this guy and his coworkers were off to prune and trim all of Golden Gate Park. Which makes no sense as it is an eight hour drive. Forget that tagent, the point is, this moron chose a time far earlier than most rise to load a crap load of equipment chatting with his buddies all along.

Here is a novel idea.. Load everything the night before so your neighbors won't be awoken in the pitch black thinking someone is breaking in their house, or stealing their truck (bad neighborhood) or whatever funs threw their heads in the daze of being jerked from sleep. All your stupidity does is make your neighbors want to run outside in their undergarments flailing their roommates Samurai sword (oddly enough he has a bunch of them on display, nunchucks too) screaming "Do you realize what time it is moron!" Of course I just laid there thinking how glorious it would be. At some point they finished their racket and left, and I drifted back off with fantasies of shiny blades and “chucks” whooshing through the air.

Maybe I will just go to home depot and buy the thickest chain and lock they make… Oh no, it is 5am and you can’t open your fence.. muhahaha.. Whoosh of ninja star cutting through the air..

Anyhow, sipping a bit of the ol Mr. T café this morning.. That man is still bad ass at 56.. I mean, he is not BA anymore but still..

Still waiting on the production project to start, so I have spent the time working on pre-production of a couple of film shorts. Things take a lot longer when little or no budget is involved.. You have to work around when the people willing to help you for the sake of the art are free.. So trying to get a handful of skilled and free people at the same time is not at all a task I wish upon you.. So, I will give it a couple months before all falls into place. That gives me plenty of time to work out the kinks.

What is the deal with Spring? I mean, yeah flowers are pretty and all, but it leaves my sinuses feeling as if they were violated by a group of large inmates. I don’t understand why my “allergy” medication does not stop that spot between my eyes from feeling like some gnome crawls through my window at night with a mini-baseball bat and smack me four times right in that spot.. Maybe he just has relations with my nostrils.. Think of that next time you blow your nose.

*I had to add this in because it was funny.. Well at least the city guys thought so this morning:

I despise the street sweeper.. He is the only one who can draw me running out of my house with the home made bright green pajama bottoms my parents gave me for Christmas.. The sweeper guy actually stopped and pointed..

Upon further thought, if I were to come running out of my house in the wee hours with a Samurai sword, nunchucks and ninja stars ablaze, only to be wearing bright green, overly baggy, quite feminine looking pajama bottoms with bed head and no shirt chest rug swaying with my quick movements.. Would I look crazy or like a complete moron?

Fetish, cookies and cold coffee.

Well my past couple of blogs have been a little on the depressing side, so keeping in tradition, lol.. Seriously though, I have a cold and it sucks. I hate being sick, not that anyone enjoys being sick. Except maybe some weird S&M fetish who chews on used Kleenex out of the dumpster from the local hospital.. OK… I just threw up a little in my mouth.

My Mr. T coffee is cold by this time.. I mean it has only been sitting here a couple of hours.. The thing about strong black coffee is that it is only good when it is fresh. If it sits in the pot too long, it taste like the ass end of a yak. If it gets cold sitting around, it tastes like cold ass end of yak.. Either way is no good.

Girl Scout cookies are the work of the devil btw. My sister just brought my nieces over who with their GS skills finagled me into dropping twenty bucks on thin mints, samoas, and chalet crèmes.. I think the GS must have a merit badge in “ridiculous cuteness.” My nieces have a couple of these each. Being sick only weakened my defensives both against the power of the GS and my willpower against those godforsaken cookies.. Half a box later I hid them from myself.. Glutany is easy to fall into when your under the weather, you have an excuse to eat like crap cause you feel like crap. Lately I have been trying to eat better and today my diet has been a balance of fruit and garbage.. They cancel each other out right? Right?

I have managed to devote time in my sick stage to working on the second draft of my current screenplay. With any hope, I can get it wrapped up today and sent to my DP and confidant for some notes and a stab at a third and perhaps final draft. I am seriously going to try to devote more time to my blog, as I will be freed up more..

Damn.. I want another cookie.. I will just go dig out the Blue Diamond wasabi Almonds I hid on Sunday.. Sad that I have to hide things from myself.. Unfortunately, microbrews can only be hidden in one place.. the fridge.. At least being sick I won’t be tempted to crack open a Petrus.

And in the name of Crom.. my battle of the cold continues.

Hello and goodbye old freinds.

I have been told that I do not blog enough.. SO… here is a freshy.
Lets see what is new in the world of Mr. A.. Well, I was offered not a raise but the complete opposite by my former employer, former yes because I already was working below my average charge. As he is my friend, I chose to bow out rather than continue working and be pissy about being paid even less then charging less.. He will discover that good help is hard to come by, and it is not that cheap.

My days of drinking swill coffee are over, well at least for a while.. Some Mr. T grade coffee arrived via USPS.. Straight from Stumptown Roasters in P-Town.. Hellooo delicious! This coffee, is f’n delicious, and I am eagerly awaiting waking to it. I may even prance about the house tossing my hair as if I were in a “Finesse” commercial. Nawww.. Just head straight for the pot of liquid black lust, fill my mug to the brim and ahhhh-cha-cha-cha.

Goodbye to Marvin, a family friend, and friend to the theater who passed away. I have this feeling of guilt hanging around. I saw Marvin pop his head in to the theater last week when I was working diligently away on the set because they were behind, but I was so rushed I did not stop to wave, or better yet walk up and say hello. It had been a couple years since I had seen him. But at the time, getting the set done seemed more important. So this guilt, this guilt of looking up and seeing him, only to go back to work.. That tad bit of guilt has lead me to look hard at the bigger picture; take the time to say hello to people when you haven’t seen them in a while because you never know if that is the last time you will have the chance.

And on that somber note…

Stepping further into the millennium

So I am sitting, on Valentines as the third wheel at the grace of my friends.. There lies ahead of us a plethora of deliciousness to dance about our tonsils. An array of Belgium to local brews, all in the name of love.... Love of beer that is. Lately I have become more inclined to expand my taste buds from the usual... between sours and dubbels, I find the world of fine brewhaha more and more worth the 10, 15 and 20 bucks a bottle. I scoff at those of my friends who fail to leave the familiarity of Budweiser.. I have grown far from the days of Schlitz and Magnum 40's.. Yet, I admit that a can of pbr can hit the spot on a hot day out camping with the menfolk.. But as I near another year into my early thirties (that early word is crucial), I realize that I am becoming more cultured. Some of you may think beer is low brow.. However, I have to say, spending as much on a bottle of "good" beer as a bottle of mediocre wine makes more sense.. Wine is made with grapes, and maybe some fruit. Beer, on the other hand has an array of ingredients that make it more versatile and worth while in the long run.. So, thank you wheat, thank you barley, thank you hops, and malt.. thank you yeast.. you make my singleness not so sniffle filled on this holiday that keeps sees and ftd thriving..

PS hallmark can go bankrupt..

Long live Petrus

Rest easy Uncle Chris.

Yesterday, my uncle Chris succumbed to Cancer. My mother didn’t want to tell me last night for fear of spoiling my evening as it was New Years Eve. I do not know why I am writing this.. I think perhaps to give some ease to myself although I am not deeply effected.. It had been years since I had seen him. Perhaps that my mother is so upset, and throughout the years our similarities had been pointed out by her. Last night I had a long discussion with a friend about going out to visit him and making a documentary about his ever losing battle that begun at age 28 when he turned to a reliance on drugs and alcohol as a staple of daily living. I wanted to hear about his life, from his mouth. The good the bad, the history of him through his eyes. I wanted to show that there was more to this man than one beating by addiction. I wanted to capture his memories to leave positive memories for others to experience. I was so adamant last night about doing this, about contacting investors today, about going out there this weekend and filming… but the moment had passed.. my uncle had passed. My opportunity to really get to know him had passed.

But I can still learn from others.. These are some things I learned about him today from my uncle Mike that I never knew about Chris:

• He raced and continually won motor cycle championships.
• He managed all the restaurants and bars at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at the age of 21.
• He snow and water skied like an Olympian contender.
• He was a veritable Craftsmen God as a carpenter and even rivaled Thor with his prowess of the hammer.
• In grammar school as a "problem child". The district psychologist gave up on him because he "was a genius and the darn kid would be asking him the questions before the session would end"
• In the summers during junior high, he took the train with his friend to visit family to Guadalajara Mexico and spent months living as a local, playing football (soccer) and speaking Spanish.
• He would captivate a crowd with jokes and stories. So much so a pub would become silent to listen and roar with laughter and joy as he entertained."

Rest now, it had been a long hard road for you, this is something I have always known.. Bless you.

Tears from heaven mean no fun in the sun.

Welp… It seems no matter how much I plan updating you with the lastest and greatest in my worldly experiences (comprised of the western United States that is) as a constant routine, I simply get caught up in living.. Sorry..

So with out further ado (trumpets blare), Mr. T coffee in hand of course, Life Update.

I am back in Southern California, and finally plugged back into the interweb on a daily basis. The weather is just as pleasant as I remember, well except for today, as Jesus tears patter away at my window, must be his birthday approaching.. being 2008 years old would make me dump tears from heaven too.. But the rain is much needed here in So Cal. Man I sure do miss the green surroundings of Oregon. Although I heard Bend received six inches of snow.. so in that respect (raising java) welcome home me.

I am still waiting for my Senior Production Manager position to start with the channel our company is launching. After months of waiting and a 1000 miles back to my birthplace, I am ready for the ball to roll.. It has inflated to astronomical proportions by this point.. This week should be the determining factor, yet I have heard this tale before and probably can expect waiting til next year for it to kick off. We did hold our first venue this past Saturday, and as a co-promoter and working like a madman to get the technical side up, I have to say it went pretty well. We sold a lot of tickets, so Santa came early for me allowing me to splurge a bit and get my nieces and nephews trinkets for Christmas.. Little devils got lucky, I was going to give them rocks with sharpied faces.

So with that said, and plenty of holes for those of you who don’t know me.. Happy holidays..

Stop crying up there though buddy, people still pay ridiculous prices to live here for the sun despite the economy.

Rain in Seattle, never.

Greetings minions from Seattle, the city of damp... It is insanely green and gorgeous, but wet, oh so very wet. As if this is the urinal of heaven.. The trough kind you find in Tijuana and old ball parks.. But I say it does not possess the retched stench, so angel pee must be equivalent to aquafina.

I opted to not go on a man trip filled with fishing and hunting in a remote cabin, to come and visit my goddaughter and best friend. Plus, in all honesty I am not one for hunting deer, never have, probably never will. Not that they aren't tasty buggers, but the whole process of gutting and removing the bowels.. I think I just threw up in my mouth a tad.. (lip smacking) taste like mocha and coffee cake.. I have evolved from Mr. T coffee, to fufu, but only while on my mini vacation!

So my goddaughter and I had a afternoon together... First Ben and Jerry's, followed by the blockbuster thriller "High School Musical 3" (two hours of crap, in which either I was noddin off or tryin to see if during all that dancing I could catch a crotch shot.. hey, they are all over 18 who you kiddin) after the movie and some overly drenched with artificial butter popcorn, the kid wanted pizza... You have no idea the persuasive power of my goddaughter, so she got her way, and picked out the all meat "John Candy," pie... dear lord.. ice cream, greasy popcorn, and meat pizza.. my gut felt as if was met head on by a Ram... I will refrain from desrcibing my experience later in the evening...

Oh look, it is raining again... I am glad that it is wet constantly, it makes it easier for me to migrate south this winter... Although I am still not 100 percent definite about my new position, I am 90 and that is good odds.. Besides, towing a trailer in the snow does not appeal to me at all. Although so cal is not my favorite place.. Great friends, family, and sunshine.. but so many people.. Oh well, we suffer for our craft right..

Catch you in the sun..

A long breath

Holy crap, has this much time really passed since I posted last? Not that I have a HUGE cult following hanging on my words, pleading desperately for me to write more.. If that was the case I would have not let time pass and would most likely have a book deal, in which case the time thing wouldn't matter because I would be living in Malibu, having relations with multiple blondes at once, including my maid, who is bleached.... everywhere........ sorry lost in thought..

So, hurry up people and read my stuff religiously so I can move. I kid, I kid, blondes really are not my thing, now brunettes, a whole crew in maid outfits... geez... (smack of the wrist)

On the new.. Just made a movie.. well was hired as AD, had to fire the supporting lead, and due to my dynamic acting ability filling in for bit parts during the readthrough, I took over.. then I had to become the second unit director, and now I am in post as the assistant editor, ultimatly I am some sort of a producer... geez, can I just take over..

So I am in souther California, and boy.. it feels bad, but at the same time good. I know that no matter how much I love the Pac No West, to do what I really want to do I have to be in the armpit of America.. that is right folks, LA... beat me, please someone for saying this.. I am not completely sold on moving, well not until I find out for sure about a huge job offer I got in the area... so what makes us move? Money, power, the desire to get into a certain feild.. geez what about all three..

Cross your fingers.. don't worry though, the PacNoWest will be my restin place..

An Opus Dei "bad priest" whippin

It seems like I have allowed work to conquer any creative thought process that still exists in my brain, of which its hard exterior shell I have used to tack my degree on the wall for me to glare at as some relic discovered on an archaeological dig, displayed in a museum, never to be touched or used, simply admired... Central Oregon seems to lack any sort of position for me to shine with my talents.. or if by some chance a position arises which comes close, they trade my skills for tidbits of sausage, a wrinkled carrot, and a couple pinto beens.. I literally laughed out loud at an offer after an interview... "really? that won't even pay my rent"... so maybe my sites are set too high, as some have said.. well they didn't bust their asses to go through school... which took me a whopping ten years to accomplish because I was always working.. nayyy, the bar is set and will not be lowered.. not that I mind what I am doing right now, I mean it pays a whole lot.. but my creative mind seems to suffer.. thank f*^*n god for a long weekend for me to do something artistic.. and look, I am even back to writing..

Enough on that.. Lets talk about wit.. I was actually inspired to post this blog because someone wrote something so incredibly witty I damn near fouled myself.. a thought occurred, "wow, there are people out there who appreciate as much as I do commentating on the absurdity of certain aspects of life..." and doing so with a tad of humor attached... this is not exactly my thoughts, but close enough.. summarized.. with a little more put into it... you get the jest..
None the less, this made me realize that I need to force myself, buckle down, focus, I mean get a little leather sex whip and beat my bare back like an Opus Dei monk (although they would probably not have a sex whip... so a "bad priest" whip) and write.. write.. and write some more.. and after I have done that, and after I have gone back over it.. and hopefully chuckled at myself..because I can be funny, but only sometimes... then I will write some more..

Next:

Well I just moved... into the nicest house I have ever lived in.. I mean it is truly a kick ass house.. two bedrooms, on bath, all hardwood flooring, a basement, gravel three parking spot on side, two car garage, a friggan workshop, and on the west side of town... I am excited to start creating art, and enjoying being walking distance from everything good.. (it would be nice if there was an Asian message parlor around the corner.. happy endings optional). I have so many ideas for things I want to create, art works, furniture, nuclear reactors, and laser beams.. I want to get ack to where my mind was at constant work of formulating creative things.. man,I am excited for someone to come and visit.. and to take them to my fictional massage parlor... (happy endings optional)

I just brewed up a cup o Mr. T coffee... I had tea earlier... I am swinging both ways in the same day now, thank god my family is accepting (referring to coffee and tea, so get your mind outta the gutter, geez, I like girls only... you perv).. variance just seems better nowadays, maybe I will just combine the two, call it coffte` or maybe teafee, something exotic sounding.. anywho, my last day of a long weekend and I better get out and enjoy the sunshine.. oh wait, it has been raining all weekend.. perhaps someone forgot to tell the controller of weather that we live in a desert.. well thanks Mr. C.O.W... thanks alot for ruining my life... well at least for the past four days. I think I see a glimpse of the sun....

nope, my mistake

Happy memorial day to you all, lets honor those who have fallen, and morn those who will..

The change to Tea, and Morons

Welp, I have returned from the valley of the wittyless.. Actually I have just been overly consumed by work for the past month or so. Nothing like rising at 5 am and not getting home until after 6 pm, just a little draining. The perk to the recent overworked madness, is that soon I will have some kick asss video equip, then the world will bow to my creative genius! I have gone to spending half my mornings with Mr. T coffee.. I am hooked on tea now which makes me feel very British.. rising at the crack of dawn to put on the kettle for a spot of tea… I feel like perhaps I should dawn a beefeaters hat and have some crumpets.. nawwww, there is just more variety, and I enjoy my black sludge here and there…

So what is the deal with the Olympic torch? Yeah I agree that Tibet should be free, but stopping the torch? Idiotic.. Um the Games in ancient Greece were a symbol of time of peace, way to go radical protest morons… ruin it for everyone else.. peaceful, non violent way means sit on the side of the f’n road and cheer for the torch. I wish I was in SF yesterday to punch as many of them in the mouth as possible.. We get one west coast city and these idiots have to ruin it! Go American uber liberals! You wanna free Tibet? GO THERE! Send money to help! Do something that will actually help! Not spoil a tradition that joins the world in the spirit of the game… MORONS

A little longer here!

One week, less than that actually.. Less than one week in a straightaway towards a new decade in my life.. Turning thirty doesn’t scare me too much, I mean it is just an age right, I am still me, I still feel young, look young, could stand to be in better shape, but aside that there is not much changing.. I am still me. Still witty, and charming.. (well in my own mind at least) I think the “fear” in all of this aging thing is that I don’t feel accomplished enough. I have lived damn near thirty years on this earth, and in the past ten I really don’t seem to have done as much as I did in the previous.. I feel as if my twenties should have been slammed packed with things.. I worked and went to school to get a technical certificate in design, took a break from school to act, went to school, got a AA, took a break from school to move to Michigan (dear god! what was I thinking?), came back worked, went to school (half heartedly), finally a few years ago I decide to buckle down.. and finally I finished my BA.. I should be a friggan doctor.. not looking at my thirties as dear god, when I go for my MA I will be friggan old!! Now I am in Oregon, working.. trying to make a film which doesn’t seem to want to get made.. I act, but not as much as I should or too my fullest potential.. I write, but this is the extent.. lord that is horrific of me… I sit for a portion of the day staring off into the vastness of cyberspace, wasting time eating instant oatmeal with dehydrated fruit (today it is blueberries and they stick to my teeth and make it look like I should be speaking cockney).. so this is my last week in my twenties and I would very much to turn that corner of aging with a vendetta against non accomplishment… that’s right.. I am going to make myself a super hero outfit to fight not doing anything of value! These past 8 months I have lounged around, trying to figure what to do with the next stage of life and finally I have two options and damn it I am stickin to my guns.. the nomadic twenties are gone soon enough.. the age of solidity is approaching, followed by the age of dear god I am halfway through life, followed by, can I retire already, followed by seriously can I retire now, followed by a golden enlightenment, followed by… er.. well I forgot but I like peas, and then it’s over. So my apologies for whining about life, for looking back and saying what the hell did I do.. the future, although I want to prolong its arrival, is bringing change.. starting in six days, 13 hours and 4 minutes..

A separate rant… I say the new documentary on Joe Strummer last night.. I have been a Clash fan for a while, and I know this because I was few singing along to “White Riot” and “I’m So Bored With The USA,” you know songs that were on their first album.. anyways.. what a life that took so many directions, did so many things.. musically was a spectrum throughout his existence on this planet which ended far too soon.. and Bono was right in the film when he said that if the Clash had taking some time to breathe they would still be one of the greatest bands playing today.. Well, up until Strummers passing.. But as we know, the past lays behind us unchangeable, or else I would be a doctor right now, definitely not writing this out to cyberland!

End of Tyrancy

So after almost fifty years of rule, Fidel Castro has stepped aside… The man who said "power doesn't interest me" as he led his rebels into Havana in 1959, later changed his tune to “Socialism or death!” Wow, will there be any change in our southern neighbor? Will this stop the flood of Cuban immigrants risking their lives on thrown together rafts.. Castro invites younger candidates to take power.. but as history tells us, with the case of Castro himself and so many others.. power ultimately corrupts with very few exceptions.. Even with the best intentions…

I am glad to see that Musharraf is not holding his power in Pakistan.. On the news this morning Pakies waved flags in celebration and held posters of Benazir Bhutto! That is a woman who is one of those very few exception to powers’ corrupt side effects.. This was a woman who cared about her people, about democracy, and about change in a country torn with political, social, and economical problems… here is a woman that I would vote for any day of the week to take charge of our country, because the ones we have running are just as hypocritical and absolutely annoying as the rest of the candidates.. her is a woman who had a chance of taking power away from a corrupt leader and was assassinated two weeks before the elections because she stood a chance at changing a piece of the world..

So as I sit this morning, reveling in my coffee and the possibility that there is a slim chance that change may occur in two places that it needs two… I have to push my chair a tad bit back and remember that political change is only temporary… power in the hands of most turns ugly…

Oh dear, has it been so long

Wow, a glimmering thought came to my mind this morning as I sat glaring into my screen picking eye globs that slumber had left on it's evening walk.. (the sleep people should provide bags to clean that up) Drinking my first cup of overly burned and strong coffee (okay, okay I overslept) to check on my blogger account.. and holy high heavens I cannot believe I have neglected this site for so long. Last blog, um early November! Wow my readers have missed my commentary on three holidays, plenty of escapades, a move across town, a visit home, plenty of acting gigs and film related stuff, and me now sitting a month from a new decade of my life.. 30, here I come... (lone tear).. A ton has happened, a ton has changed and I am looking forward to 2008 to bring some astonishing things to my plate.. Thank god.. Not that 2007 was bad, but I have some high hope this year.. Well except for that silly holiday in a week or so.. (only silly because I will be sucking down a gallon of cheap wine and devouring a dozen roses while I stare at the pretty chocolates.. cheap wine does strange things to folks.. honestly, I don't really drink all that much and if I do indulge on some wine it better dance gingerly about my taste buds.. wine snob here)
So, this is my pledge to try and blog once a week again specifically on this site.. I know the power of other sites has lured me away with pretty pictures and individuals who actually comment on my writing (that is a hint).. Yet I do need to say one particular individual has been on me for a month to repost and so here it is! Written with love, horrid coffee and enough eye globules to mold a miniature sphinx. Thanks for being patient my few hardy followers. I promise to develop new canter.. just wait til I give my two cents on the primaries!

Glad to be back
Mr. A

Boo circumstance!

The plights of dating wear heavily on the soul.. well maybe I just end up meeting amazing people at the wrong times.. because I swear circumstance always seems to slap me in the ass and call me it’s bitch.. I swear circumstance is a member of the Irish mob and has it out for me… I am the target of one angry mob muscle who happens to find the best moments to strike.. What ever did I do to you oh circumstance? Did I wrong you, bump you in the street, give you a glance unbeknownst? Well thanks! Thanks to you I will always be stuck in the zone you don’t want to be in with people of the opposite sex you are attracted to… the friend zone. (Damn it I feel like the semi cute guy in the 80’s movie who always loses the girl to the most popular guy…. Does that mean I have to rock tee shirts with vests?)

Well circumstance I am here to say nay, no more will you rough me up! Move on to someone else.. I bite my thumb at thee! With your weee beady eyes. It is moving into winter and codling my pillow is gettin old. Do you have any idea what 300 count cotton taste like????? Nothing!

Ok, done venting, done shaking my fist, just done.. this day I reveal to the world my new life as a monk… celibate, no booze, a life of solitude in silence…….. um, ok.. maybe that is too far… can I take that back world? Can I retract that? I mean I like the first two things kinda.. maybe I could live without a cocktail, but um, no um, forever? Come onnn! I retract, nuff said.

On a completely different note. My favorite holiday came to an end this past weekend.. yeah I actually went to a costume party, but found that not too many people were in costume. Well I was true to the spirit! This year my friend (who happens to be in cahoots with circumstance) helped me craft a bear costume.. a cute furry little costume that I pranced around central Oregon in handing out candy from my honey pot to those who told me I was “soo cute” (although the drag queens took it a little too far, come on ladies, my tail was not meant to be fondled), anywho.. it was a blast. This past weekend I went to the aforementioned party as Johnny Cash, but apparently I looked like Chris Isaak.. whatever, I looked cool either way… and I can tell you that a pompadour is a damn hard thing to create, maybe that is why rockabillies use so much grease in their hair.. so they can just keep the damn thing in place! Thus closeth the season of dressing up.. until someone has a theme party, go theme parties! On we go to the world of deep fried turkey, or in the best of meals, the tur-duc-kin!

Desire and reason

I have been thinking overwhelmingly lately about home.. which is still burning.. Now it is tragic, it is horrendous it is.. mother nature, and unfortunately for the past twenty-nine years I have watched southern California grow disgustingly. I remember as a kid riding in my dads Chevy Luv truck in the hills, which ten years later where laden with homes.. I guess, as much as I want to be home because I miss everyone, I realize how crowded it is... how claustrophobic.. and these recent events just go to show that when you overpopulate and over run nature, your going to get bit in the ass... at some point a disaster will sweep... I am just glad my family and friends back home are all right.. some have been displaced, and some quite possibly have lost their homes.. but life is worth more.. it truly is...

yeah I wish so to be home.... but I look out at the phenominal sites outside my window and check myself thinking, I can breathe here.
